Black Mustard (BRASSICA NIGRA)

General

Is of use in hay-fever, coryza, and pharyngitis. Dry nares and pharynx, with thick, lumpy secretion. Small-pox.

Head

Scalp hot and itches. Sweat on upper lip and forehead. Tongue feels blistered.

Nose

Mucus from posterior nares feels cold. Scanty, acrid discharge. Stoppage of left nostril all day, or in afternoon and evening. Dry, hot, with lachrymation, sneezing; hacking cough; better lying down. Nostrils alternately stopped. Dryness of anterior nares.

Respiratory

Cough is relieved by lying down.

Throat

Feels scalded, hot inflamed. Asthmatic breathing. Loud coughing-spells with barking expiration.

Stomach

Offensive breath, smelling like onions (Asaf; Armorac). Burning in stomach, extending up œsophagus, throat, and mouth, which is full of canker sores. Hot sour eructations. Colic; pains come on while bent forward; better, sitting up straight. Sweat better when nausea comes on.

Urinary

Pain in bladder, frequent copious flow day and night.

Back

Rheumatic pain in intercostal and lumbar muscles; sleeplessness from pain in back and hips.

Relationship

Compare: Sulph; Capsic; Colocy; Sinapis alba-White Mustard--(throat symptoms marked, especially pressure and burning, with obstruction in œsophagus; sensation of a lump in œsophagus behind the Manubrium Sterni and with much eructation; similar symptoms in rectum). Mustard oil by inhalation (acts on the sensory nerve endings of the trigeminal. Relieves pain in middle ear disease and in painful conditions of nose, nasal cavities, and tonsils).

Characteristics

" Sin. nig . yields the greater part of the condiment so generally used in this country. The plant is indigenous, but is nevertheless largely cultivated in Yorkshire and Durham. The seeds are of a reddish-brown colour. Mixed with those of Sin. a . they are crushed between rollers, and subsequently powdered and sifted twice or oftener. From the residue left on the sieve a fixed oil is obtained by pressure. The powdered mustard is usually mixed with a considerably quantity of wheaten flour and a small quantity of turmeric powder. The term I flour of mustard I is not quite accurate, as the mustard seeds themselves contain little or no starchy material. The chemical ingredients are somewat complex. Among them are a peculiar acid called Myronic acid , noticeable as containing a large proportion of Sulphur , and which, when mixed with water and a peculiar substance called Myrosine (analogous to albumen), also found in mustard seeds, yields a volatile Oil of Mustard, which has no separate existence in the seeds, but is formed artificially in the manner just stated. This oil is very acrid, and has been used as a rubefacient. The fixed oil before mentioned as existing in the seed itself has little or no acridity, and has been used as a purgative and vermifuge" ( Treas. of Bot .). Thiosinamine , which is extracted from Oil of Mustard, belongs to the same group os Urea. It has been used in cheloid, and for removing scar tissue, and so in tinnitus aurium (Spencer, H. M ., Jan., 1899). As the chemical constituents of the two mustards (see Sin. alb .) are not identical, and as they have been proved independently, I have kept them separate. The yellow colour of mustard suggests Sulphur , a large amount of which is contained in the seeds. Like many other Crucifers Sin. n . has antiscorbutic properties; and it has cured cases of ague; mucous fever; catarrh of bladder, of stomach, and of air passages. It is in the treatment of hay-fever that it has been most used. The special indications are: Mucous membrane dry and hot; no discharge; < afternoon and evening; either nostril may be affected alone, or they may be affected alternately. Hansen adds these: "Acute coryza with thin, watery, excoriating discharge, lachrymation, sneezing, hacking cough, > lying down. Acute pharyngitis, throat feels scalded, hot, inflamed. Loud coughing spells with barking expiration, heard at a great distance. Cooper ( H. W ., xxxvi. 16) suggests the use of Sin. n . as an aperient. He considers that the chief agent in effecting dislodgement of fæces in constipated states is flatus. His method of producing this is as follows: A tumblerful of hot water is to be taken in sips in the early morning; the same at breakfast time with some plain brown bread or with no solid food at all, and at 11 a.m. one or two capsules of pure mustard ( Sin n .), each containing about five grains of the powder, to be taken, followed by half a tumbler of hot water. "This last is most important, as the water drives on the capsule and prevents its lodgement about the cardiac orifice of the stomach and consequent distress to the patient; and it also causes contraction of the walls of the stomach and consequent expulsion of flatus into the duodenum." Peculiar Sensations of Sin. n . are: Vertex as if empty. As if she had taken cold. As if scalp was adherent to bones. As of pins sticking in eyeballs. Eyeballs as if pressed on from above. As if nostrils stopped up. As if movements impeded all round the chest. As if something heavy oppressed her on all sides from neck to diaphragm. As if cheeks were bulged out by a bubble of air below malar bone. Skin of lips as if stiff. As if blisters on tip of tongue. As if a load on stomach. Pain as if heart were on right side. As of hot water in blood-vessels. ─ "Sweat on upper lip and forehead" is a symptom worth noting; also these: mucus hawked or coughed from posterior nares felt cold . The symptoms are < by touch and pressure. > Lying down at night. < Leaning forward; stooping motion < . Damp weather < . > Sitting erect. < In warm room. < Thinking of symptoms; > by study or mental diversion. > Shutting eyes. > Hearty meal. Laughing = cough. < Evening, 4-6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. < July and August.

Relations

Antidoted by: Smelling bread (immediate effects of taking excess of condiment). Nux, Rhus; when blistering has been produced by a mustard poultice, soap is the remedy. Compare: Sin. a., Thios., Armor. Scalded sensation on tongue, Sang. Cough < laughing, Arg. n., Pho. Cough > lying down, Fer., Mang. < From 4 to 6 p.m., Lyc. Amenorrhœa, Sul., Pul. As if hot water in blood-vessels (Rhus as if blood running cold).

Causation

Damp weather. Summer season.

Mind

Irritable; difficult to think and study. ─ Unreasonably cross. ─ Mind worked rapidly.

Head

Vertigo: of old people; violent attacks, with hard hearing after eating heavy food; esp. fat. ─ Head dull, heavy, > when mind occupied by study; > shutting eyes; > in open air; < in warm room; < when thinking of it. ─ Dull feeling in vertex as if empty. ─ Frontal headache, most over bridge of nose and round edge of orbits, > when eating, < after eating; > by rest. ─ Headache over r. eye < stooping. ─ Heavy, drawing feeling in r. temple towards night. ─ Sensation as if scalp were adherent to bones. ─ Forehead hot and dry.

Eyes

Eyes feel weak; pressure = pricking in them. ─ Pressing feeling in eyes as from above, difficult to keep lids open; > shutting eyes; > by hearty meal.

Nose

Symptoms of a severe cold. ─ Immediately on touching the tongue pungent odour went into nostrils causing sneezing. ─ Dryness in both nostrils, < l., tender to pressure; discharged some mucus. ─ L. nostril stopped up: in afternoon and evening; all day, scanty discharges, acrid, making skin smart. ─ Scurvy with copious and frequent nose-bleed.

Face

Shrunken features. ─ Burning prickling in face. ─ Red round mouth with smarting of lips. ─ Sensation as if cheek were bulged outward by a bubble of air, just below malar bone, in afternoon. ─ Lips dry and feel as if integuments were stiff.

Mouth

Teeth sensitive to warm drinks and cold air, esp. stopped teeth. ─ Swollen bleeding gums. ─ Tongue: fissure in middle line; dirty white coat in middle; sore, raw, also gums, could not bear to eat anything hard; dry and sticky; burning scalding feeling; fore part feels blistered. ─ Black tongue. ─ Breath offensive, as after eating onions. ─ Mouth: dry; burning, extending to stomach. ─ Profuse saliva. ─ During proving, mustard (of which he was usually very fond) had a very unpleasant taste, and nearly caused nausea. ─ Taste: of garlic, causing nausea; of horseradish.

Throat

Dry sensation back of nose and throat > by swallowing or by efforts to cough, which brings up with difficulty a little white, tenacious mucus, in lumps. ─ Throat sore, left side, on swallowing sativa, less on swallowing food or drink, whole throat behind uvula injected light red. ─ Sore throat r. side extending to l.

Stomach

Appetite good. ─ Aversion to sweets. ─ Eructations: of gas; constantly accompanying other symptoms; all food tasting of horseradish, later tasteless. ─ Hiccough. ─ Heartburn and belching. ─ Stomach: load in; burning in. ─ Ulceration of stomach and intestines. ─ Pain in region of stomach with sensation of faintness compelling to bend forward, which > . ─ Dull pain running directly across epigastric region < leaning forward > sitting erect. ─ Pressure in epigastric region.

Abdomen

Dull pain in l. hypochondriac region. ─ Heavy, dull pain as from weight below umbilical region. ─ Severe twisting in umbilical region. ─ Pain from l. of umbilical region to l. iliac region; later to r. side, ascending colon. ─ Accumulation of flatus with twinges of pain about umbilicus. ─ Rumbling. ─ L. inguinal gland swollen and painful. ─ Sharp pain in r. inguinal gland. ─ Dull pain in r. inguinal region > by pressure.

Stool and Anus

Smarting, cutting pain low down in anus, after a stool. ─ Desire for a stool without passage. ─ Diarrhœa. ─ Stools offensive. ─ First stool normal, second loose. ─ Before stool uneasy feeling in rectum; after stool, smarting cutting low down in rectum and anus. ─ Constipated; stools hard, like balls. ─ (Constipation and piles cured in the proving.)

Urinary Organs

Pain in bladder, in morning, before urinating. ─ Desire frequent; flow increased. ─ Urine, pale, straw-coloured, without sediment.

Male Sexual Organs

Violent erections during day and night; obstinate, painful, and continued. ─ Awakening him at night; with lascivious thoughts; lascivious dreams and emissions at night.

Female Sexual Organs

Menses appear in a few hours long before the proper time (several cases). ─ Amenorrhœa and chlorosis. ─ Cessation of catamenia.

Respiratory Organs

Hoarseness, evening from 4 p.m. ─ Cough, short, hacking; all evening; 7 to 8 p.m.; seldom during day. ─ Cough mostly dry or with expectoration of lumps of mucus < in cold air; > lying down and (temporarily) by eating; excited by laughing. ─ Expectoration: from posterior nares much mucus, which felt cold; white, in tenacious masses. ─ Asphyxia. ─ Pituitous asthma.

Chest

Wandering pains in chest. ─ Pain in l. side of chest in region of heart. ─ Respiration at base of l. lung roughened. ─ Sensation in r. chest as if heart were on r. side.

Heart

Dull, continual pain in heart toward apex, in evening; seemingly in heart substance. ─ Heart pains return daily 10 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. ─ Sensation as if heart were on r. side. ─ Pulse: accelerated; full.

Back

Severe, dull, pulsating pain under inferior angle of l. scapula. ─ Slight backache, becoming intolerable towards bedtime; restless all night from pain in back and hips; > motion.

Limbs

Weariness in limbs with cramps in calves.

Upper Limbs

Occasional dull pain in left shoulder-joint.

Lower Limbs

Weakness in calf-muscles. ─ Dull, heavy ache in legs. ─ Pain constant in ankles and calves.

Generalities

It seemed to double him up; could hardly stand; tears ran from eyes; intense pain across epigastric region. ─ Rose late, feeling sore and stiff all over. ─ Weakness in all muscles. ─ Symptoms < 7 to 9 p.m.; > lying down at night, except dreams.

Skin

Skin turns red. ─ Burning heat and stitches in skin. ─ Frightful suppuration and gangrenous inflammation reaching down to sternum (fatal effects of mustard applied to swollen glands of neck). ─ General ecchymosis. ─ Chronic eczema. ─ Small-pox; ("to be given until sulphocyanides appear in the saliva"). ─ Ulcers on legs.

Sleep

Sleepiness; during day, sleepless at night. ─ Sleeps little at night, but does not feel loss of sleep. ─ Dreams: vivid; or lascivious.

Fever

Severe chills, chattering of teeth, sensation of general coldness, with shrunken feeling (from mustard bath). ─ Heat through whole body, esp. down spine. ─ Quartan ague and inflammatory fever. ─ Sweat and feeling of hot water in all blood-vessels, > when nausea came on. ─ Sweat general; esp. on forehead and upper lip. ─ Sweat free on exertion (mental or physical), and from external heat.

Mind

Irritable disposition.
Cross, dissatisfied without cause ; must guard himself constantly or be uncivil and pettish.
From fright during coition, impotence.
Cannot keep his attention fixed.
From least mental exertion : sweat.

Sensorium

Vertigo of old people.
Violent attacks of vertigo, with hard hearing after eating heavy food ; mostly after fat.

Inner head

Dull pain across forehead commencing at outer angle of each eye, more severe around edges of orbits and across bridge of nose.
Dull, dragging-down sensation in anterior part of head, not amounting to decided pain.
Heavy headache in top and sides of head.
Dull headache, with qualmishness about pit of stomach.
Dull headache, replaced (at 11 A. M.) by burning prickling in face, moderately full pulse, dull feeling in top of head, as if empty.
Headache does not interfere with mental exertion, in fact, is forgotten during it ; < when attention is drawn to it ; in warm room ; better in open air, eating and lying down.
Pains are < on one side, right ; sometimes on the other, left ; mostly anterior part of head and less often vertex is involved (no prover had it in occiput).
Headache as if she had taken cold, with tired feeling all over.
Dull, heavy, drawing or pressing pain in head.
Apoplexy.

Outer head

Sensation as if scalp were adherent to bones.
Forehead hot and dry.

Sight and eyes

When pressing on eyeballs, sensation as of pins sticking.
Eyeballs as if pressed on from above, with tired feeling of eyes and some dull pain in them, > closing eyes and by eating.
Sudden feeling of warmth, with stitching in left eye ; it fills with tears, which relieve.
Sticking or smarting in left eye.
Eyes sore, weak.
Eyes feel tired.
Pain over eye, sometimes right, sometimes left ; sometimes passing from outer angle to root of nose.
Eyes smart with profuse lachrymation.
Hard work to keep eyes open.

Hearing and ears

Hard hearing, with vertigo.

Smell and nose

Dryness of anterior nares.
Nostrils dry ; left < with discharge of some dried mucus ; tender to pressure.
Dryness of posterior nares and pharynx, > swallowing and clearing throat of small white lumps of tenacious mucus with slight hacking.
Scanty acrid discharge from anterior nares, makes skin red.
Left nostril stopped up all day ; scanty acrid discharge from nose.
Mucous membrane of nose dry and hot ; no discharge ; symptoms < in afternoon and evening ; either nostril may be affected alone or alternately with the other. θ Hay

Dryness in posterior nares and pharynx > by swallowing and attempts to clear throat, which brings up small lumps of white tenacious mucus with slight hawking.
Much discharge of mucus from posterior nares, it accumulates there and requires an effort to dislodge ; tasteless, cold and in quite large, tenacious white masses.
Accumulation of mucus, usually white, at times yellow, drops from posterior nares, causing nausea and even vomiting.
Scurvy, with copious and frequent nosebleed.
Profuse, thin, watery discharge from anterior nares, excoriating and acrid ; wings of nose red and sore ; draws considerable mucus into throat from posterior nares ; voice thick, nasal ; frequent short, hacking cough, painless,

A man of nervous temperament was caught in a thundershower and wet through ; nasal passages feel stopped up while a thin acrid mucus is discharged profusely from anterior nares ; wings of nose red ; eyelids smart and itch.
For some years subject to severe colds ; severe acrid nasal discharge with much lachrymation and irritation of eyelids ; sneezes frequently, with coryza ; hacking cough harder and more paroxysmal, lasts for weeks ; nose feels stopped up, especially at bridge,
although he has considerable nasal discharge which irritates and reddens skin ; voice very nasal ; partial loss of taste and smell.
Feeling as if nostrils were stopped up although they discharge profusely a thin mucus, which excoriates nose and lip ; itching and smarting of eyelids ; post-nasal discharge ; continually clearing throat ; infrequent hacking cough ; dull frontal headache ;

Hay fever ; eyes suffused, itched and smarted ; nose swollen and discharging continually a thin acrid mucus ; oppression of chest, as if movement were impeded all around her chest, not a contraction, but as if something heavy oppressed her in all sides from her neck to
diaphragm ; < at night lying down.
Subject to hay fever for eight years ; comes on July 28th of each year and stays until after first hard frost ; two weeks after commencement of attack, smarting and itching of eyelids, < toward inner canthi ; margins of lids reddened ; eyes filled with
tears ; nasal discharge profuse, watery and excoriating ; much sneezing, < in morning for a while, and on lying down at night, but continuing more or less all day long ; itching, burning, tickling in nostrils high up ; frequent hacking cough during day, but none at
night ; dull frontal headache ; mentally irritable.
Has been for two weeks suffering from her annual attack of hay fever, which came on, as usual, about middle of August ; nose swollen, alæ nasi excoriated, while lips were but little reddened ; eyes watery, must keep wiping them ; eyelids itch ; voice nasal ;
nose feels stopped up at bridge and posterior nares ; post-nasal discharge, which she draws down in considerable quantities and expectorates ; it is thick, of brownish color and tastes cold ; breathing much oppressed all the time, but < at night ; every night she has
attacks of asthmatic breathing, which last an hour or more ; during attacks must sit upright and has a dull pain from upper part of chest through to shoulder blades, and dull, hard aching in temples ; can never lie with head low because it brings on attacks ; attacks more
frequent in damp weather, and < on lying down and moving, > by sitting up in bed with shoulders drawn forward (round-shouldered position) and by perfect quiet.
Mrs. D., æt. 71, small, dark, dried-up old woman, bronchial asthma ; sat in one chair, leaning her head upon back of another ; breathing labored and noisy, wheezing and rattling of mucus in chest plainly audible all over room ; anxious for death that she might be
relieved ; intensely despondent and sure that she would not recover ; acrid nasal discharge reddened skin about nose and slightly on upper lip.

Upper face

Sensation as if cheeks were bulged out by a bubble of air just below malar bone.

Lower face

Lips dry, skin as if stiff ; smarting of lips ; red around mouth.

Teeth and gums

Teeth, especially such as have been filled, sensitive to warm drinks or cold air.
Gums sore, tender to touch, can hardly eat hard food.
Swollen, bleeding gums.
Convulsions during dentition.

Taste, speech, tongue

Tingling, scalded feeling of tongue.
Tongue can hardly bear weight of teeth ; raw, sore.
Tongue feels dry, sticky, sense of blisters on tip.
Tongue dirty white in middle, edges and tip hot.
Fissure down median line.
Black tongue.

Inner mouth

Breath offensive, smelling like onions Mouth dry.
Burning in mouth to stomach ; with nausea, > by eating.
Saliva increased ; alkaline.
Sore mouth, accompanied by hot, burning, sour eructations ; burning started in stomach and would come up throat to mouth, with sour eructations ; mouth very sore all over, with little white points surrounded by red mucous membrane.
Ulcers in mouth, especially on tongue, with violent burning pain, where whole buccal cavity is so sensitive that even blandest food or drink is unbearable.
A woman eight months pregnant, constantly suffering with burning in stomach extending up œsophagus to throat and mouth ; mouth full of canker sores ; < from food or drink.

Palate and throat

Left side sore, felt only on swallowing saliva and forcing mucus from choanæ ; very slight when eating or drinking.
Throat behind uvula injected light red.
Sore throat right to left.
Angina œdematosa ; pale swelling with much phlegm.

Appetite, thirst. desires, aversions

Appetite good.
Averse to sweets.
Toward evening, thirst.

Eating and drinking

While eating : headache > ; nausea > ; pain in eyes >.
After eating : vertigo < ; desire for stool ; fulness after a little, must loosen garments.
After eating or drinking : fulness and heaviness ; distension, clothing must be loosened.

Hiccough, belching, nausea and vomiting

Obstinate hiccough.
Heartburn.
Frequent belching : tasteless, or tasting like horseradish or of ingesta ; of hot air which increases heartburn.
Copious vomiting, much straining ; it relieves nausea.

Scrobiculum and stomach

Sensation of a load in stomach.
Burning, later sharp and intermittent with faintness, > bending forward in sitting posture.
Burning in stomach and umbilical region.
Ulceration of stomach and intestines.
Chronic catarrh of stomach.

Hypochondria

Pressure in epigastric region.
Dull pain across epigastrium on bending forward, > sitting erect.
Dull pain in left hypochondrium.

Abdomen and loins

Pains < about navel ; sometimes in lumbar region.
Pains from navel down to left inguina.
Rumbling of flatus.
Heavy, dull pain below navel as from a weight.
Continuous dull pain in right groin, > by pressure.
Sharp pain in right groin.
Dull, heavy pain in left groin, at times sharp and sticking.
Gland in left groin swollen, painful.
Chronic catarrh of intestines.

Stools and rectum

Stool once in three days.
Stool large in amount and rather hard, with no difficulty in passing ; or loose, scanty, expelled with difficulty.
Frequent desire without any passage, passage small, in balls or lumps, at first large then tapering.
After stool feeling as if all had not passed ; sharp smarting pain in lower rectum and anus.
Pappy, dark brown stool, with burning in anus ; much undigested food with mucus and dead worms.
(OBS :) Cholera, with cyanosis.

Urinary organs

Urine frequent but normal in quantity ; of a pale straw-color ; sometimes increased ; sp. gr. 1025.
Large quantities of urine are passed during night, passage preceded by a violent erection.
After urinating : sensation as if more would be voided and a little later dribbling of a few drops.
Urine : darker ; golden, acid ; clear yellow ; a cloud suspended in it with little granules like frog spawn.
Catarrh of bladder.

Male sexual organs

Sexual desire excited.
Violent erections during the day with lascivious thoughts.
Obstinate and violent erections at night, usually with lascivious dreams and even emission of semen.
Impotence, from a fright during coition.

Female sexual organs

Menses appeared in a few hours, long before period.
Amenorrhœa and chlorosis.
Cessation of catamenia.

Voice and larynx. trachea and bronchia

Hoarseness ; toward night and in evening, with frequent attempts to clear throat.
Rough scraping sensation in throat extending to trachea, with a continual desire to clear throat and a slight hacking cough, < in evening.
Continual desire to clear throat, with difficult dislodgment of small lumps of tenacious white mucus, freer in forenoon, scanty at night.

Respiration

Asphyxia.
Pituitous asthma.

Cough

Short, hacking cough in evening, leaves on retiring ; usually dry, but sometimes sputa in small tenacious lumps of white mucus ; excited by laughing ; < in cold air ; > on lying down and while eating ; sensation of an obstruction low down in
trachea.
Neurosis of nerves of respiration since two years ; loud coughing spells, lasting about ten minutes at a time ; loud barking respirations could be heard at a distance.

Inner chest and lungs

Pain in right side as if heart were there and one could feel its beating.
Sharp, severe pain in left side of chest in cardiac region, passing off soon.
Wandering pains in chest.
Catarrh of lungs.

Heart, pulse and circulation

Uneasiness and occasional dull pains in region of heart, unaltered by pressure, deep inspiration or motion.
Occasional sensation of oppression and pricking in region of heart, soon passing off.
Quite persistent dull, circumscribed pain in heart toward apex.
Pains about heart recur daily about 10 A. M., and from 4 to 6 P. M., lasting a short time only, sometimes quite persistent, with a feeling of dread and oppression.
Pulse grows less frequent and later rises until it is a little too frequent.

Neck and back

Dull but quite severe pulsating pain under lower angle of left scapula.
Cannot sleep on account of pain in small of back and hips ; > by motion.
Pain in small of back, becoming intolerable near bedtime.

Upper limbs

Drawing pain at insertion of right biceps brachialis on flexing and extending arm.
Occasional dull pains in left shoulder joint.

Lower limbs

Weakness of muscles of calves.
Cramps in calves.

Sweats easily from least exertion, mental or physical.
Quartan ague and inflammatory fever.
Typhoid and putrid fevers ; delirious ; great prostration ; petechia.

Attacks, periodicity

Daily : return of pains about heart about 10 A. M., and from 4 to 6 P. M.
Every evening : sudden headache while conversing.
Every night : attacks of asthma.
Middle of August : hay fever.
Since two years : neurosis of nerves of respiration lasting ten minutes.
For eight years : subject to hay fever ; comes on July 28th and lasts until after first hard frost.

Locality and direction

Right : dull pain in groin ; sharp pain in groin ; pain in side as if heart were there ; drawing pain at insertion of biceps brachialis.

Pain : over eyes ; in eyes ; about navel ; from navel down to left inguina ; in stomach and epigastrium ; in right side ; about heart ; in small of back and hips.
Sharp pain : in right groin ; in lower rectum and anus ; in left side of chest.
Dull but quite severe pulsating pain : under angle of left scapula.
Stitching : in left eye.
Wandering pains : in chest.
Aching : in stomach.
Dull pain : across forehead ; in eyes ; upper part of chest through to shoulder blades ; across epigastrium ; in left hypochondrium ; in right groin ; in region of heart ; in heart toward apex ; in left shoulder joint.
Heavy pain : in top and sides of head ; below navel ; in left groin.
