A remedy for catarrhal states. Hay-fever.

Head

Itching; falling off of hair; roots of hair painful. Pustules. Pain in occiput, extends to right ciliary region. Deep seated pain in sides of head.

Ears

Burning and itching in auditory canals. Eczema behind ears.

Nose

Hay-fever begins with burning and itching of palate and conjunctiva. Annoying itching in the nostrils and roof of the mouth (Wyethia). Coryza; loss of smell (Nat mur). Sneezing, itching of nostrils.

Mouth

Burning and itching; bleeding of gums. Ulcers and exfoliations in the commissures. Fissures in tongue.

Stomach

Coldness in stomach. Longing for acids.

Abdomen

Movement as from something alive. Flatulence pain at pubic region.

Stool

Greenish. Burning at anus. Diarrhœa of nursing children (Cham; Calc phos).

Urine

Burning. Red sediment (Lyc).

Male

Pain in spermatic cord after embrace.

Female

Menses too early and profuse. Neuralgic pains from face to shoulders and pubis. Desire with vaginal pruritus.

Respiratory

Characteristics

Arundo is a reedy grass and the tincture is made from the root-shoots. ─ It has not been much tested clinically, but its chief sphere has been proved to be in catarrhal conditions. Constant (serous) diarrhœa of nursing or teething children. Urine deposits much red sand. Mouth excoriated. Thirst. Coryza and snuffling. Scrofulous ophthalmia. Purulent discharge from the ear. Arundo has cured a case of hay-fever, the symptoms beginning with "burning and itching of palate and conjunctiva." Chagon is the authority for the pathogenesis.

Nose

Mouth

Stomach

Uterine catarrh. ─ Violent desire for coition; or aversion to it. ─ Early, profuse, long-lasting menses; blood dark clotted. ─ Pains start from l. side of jaw, along l. eyebrow, extending to shoulders and loins and finally settling on pubis, burning like fire. ─ Excessive secretion of milk causes pain in l. breast.

Respiratory Organs

Catarrhal cough. ─ Sputa at first bluish, then white, and so alternately. ─ After expectorating bruised feeling in pit of throat. ─ After cough: burning in epigastrium; larynx obstructed. ─ Accumulation of mucus in bronchi causes anxiety.

Neck and Back

Relations

No gramineæ are known by their morbid influence, except some poisoning symptoms of Lolium .
Ananth . has been proved by Houat. Sacch. off . is well known by provings and cures, but has no similarity with any tincture of roots.
The disjunctive similars are principally Sulphur, Calc. ost ., and Lycop ., one of the principal family in our armamentarium.
